Ballymena Utd 1 Crusaders 1

It was honours even today at the Ballymena Showgrounds where Ballymena United and Crusaders played out a 1-1 each draw. It was a pretty tame first half that failed to live up to expectations but the second half at least there was a better half of football.

Crusaders started well and Paul Heatley had the best of the chances with one particular effort being saved well by Glendinning. Crusaders lost Jordan Owens through injury with Jamie McGonigle replacing him. Paul Heatley continued to pepper the United goal without success. Crusaders claims for a penalty where turned dowm and just before half time Declan Caddell was denyed by good defending.

The second half was only a few minutes old when Crusaders did get a penalty through a hand ball. Jamie McGonigle stepped up to score and Crusaders led. Ballymena Utd came into the game and started to control with Doherty making a good save before doing it again seconds later. Utd piled the pressure on and got the equaliser on 67 minutes when Harper headed past Doherty. Crusaders came back at Utd but couldn't get the breakthrough and it was Gerard Doherty again who made two fine saves in the last few minutes to leave the score 1-1 at the whistle.
