It's back to Ballymena Showgrounds for the third time in as many weeks and a different competition again as Ballymena United and Crusaders lock horns only this time in the BetMcLean.com League Cup Quarter Final (7.45pm) It's a draw and a win for United so far in the "head to head" but this will count for nothing as both sides look for a semi final spot.
Crusaders will want to improve from Saturdays 2-2 draw with Glenavon in the Premiership and as has been the norm so far in cup competitions Stephen Baxter may choose to use the depth of the squad for this game again. Sean O'Neill could get a start and his back four maybe could see a few rested and others getting a chance to play with Jarlath O'Rourke and Kyle Owens for example starting. Midfield could see the return of Philip Lowry and Declan Caddell from the start and coming on a s subs on Saturday while David Cushley and Sean Ward will certainly be looking a start. Gary Thompson could retain his spot while Recce McGinley and Harry Robinson will also stake claims. Up front we could see Jordan Owens possibly on the bench with Jamie McGonigle in the starting XI. It's all "ifs and buts" but Stephen Baxter will have an eye on going through and will have left nothing to chance come kick off.
Ballymena United lost 3-1 in their last game against Glentoran and David Jeffrey will wantan instant reaction. He will look to the Co.Antrim Shield win two weeks ago over Crusaders as inspiration for this game but will also know Crusaders will be out to avenge that defeat. Like Crusaders Ballymena United may take the chance to use the squad for this one and certainly the hero of the night last time Jordan Williamson will be pushing for a spot in goals this game but again we wait and see.
So all set for the final game in this trilogy. Kick off is 7.45pm and it will be played to a finish on the night with extra time and penalties available. Admission is £12 & £8 at the turnstile. Make your way again down the the A26 and get behind the team. Keep The Faith.
