New Years Day 2020 sees Crusaders off down the A1 to play Warrenpoint Town in the first game of the new decade in the Danske Bank Premiership. Crusaders will be looking to build on a good win against Dungannon Swifts on Saturday while Warrenpoint Town will want points to get themselves off the foot of the table.
Crusaders will wait too see if Colin Coates and Ross Clarke makes it back from injury and Howard Beverland from illness before naming the team. Chris Hegarty and Declan Caddell return to the panel after missing Saturdays game so we are at virtually full strength to choose from apart from Matthew Snoddy and Sean Ward who continue to regain fitness and Rory Hale who is out long term with a knee injury. Gerard Doherty keeps his place in nets with the Billy Joe Burns and Jarlath O'Rourke set to start alongside whom we wait too see. Midfield could be reshuffled again as squad rotation continues over the busy holiday period and it's too close to call who will start. Jamie McGonigle and Jordan Owens are set to start having played well in Saturdays 5-0 win. The team will want to pick up maximum points again to start the new year off on a positive note and Stephen Baxter will push them to do just that.
Warrenpoint Town sit at the bottom of the Premiership table on goal difference but Barry Gray will demand a performance against Crusaders that could lift them off there. A 1-1 draw on Saturday against Glenavon will have boosted morale and they could feel an upset is on the cards at Milltown on Wednesday. Brandon Doyle has scored some good goals this season and may be the one to watch with Alan O'Sullivan also on the scoresheet regularly. Warrenpoint Town will look to the narrow 1-0 win for Crusaders on the last visit to Milltown and the way they played that day as inspiration going into this one.
So all set for the latest game and of course you the supporter are important and we want you there. Admission is £12 & £8 payable at the gate. Make your way to the first game of 2020 with Crusaders as we look to challenging for the title and bringing it back to Seaview. Keep The Faith.
