Crusaders begin their defence of the newly sponsored Peaky Blinders Irish Cup on Saturday with a home tie against Championship side Dundela. It's a David v Goliath game but also over one match and both sides know anything can happen and Crusaders will not underestimate the challenge ahead.
Crusaders will use squad rotation for this one more than likely as Stephen Baxter looks to rest a few players who have been involved in some big games over the holiday period. Sean O'Neill will be in nets for this if past cup games have anything to go by and the back four may be different with Howard Beverland, Chris Hegarty and maybe Michael Ruddy all starting. Definitely missing is Billy Joe Burns who is suspended. The midfield could see Philip Lowry and Declan Caddell returning to the starting line up or at least on the bench while David Cushley could partner Jamie McGonigle if Jordan Owens is rested. It will certainly be a big line up whoever starts and the chance to set down a marker on the road to making it "back to back" cup wins.
Dundela currently sit in fourth place in the Chapionship and the East Belfast side will certainly be no walk overs in this game. Littered with ex Crusaders players such as Ross Holden, Wiiliam Bingham, Michael Kerr, Matty King, Ryan Nimick and David McMaster the faces will be familiar and we know who well these lads can play. It will be an all or nothing game and Dundela will certainly be up for this. The main man at the minute to watch is Owain Beggs who scored an inportant goal last Saturday against H&W Welders while Carl McComb and Tiaran McNicholl are popping goals in regularly as well as David McMaster and Ross Holden.
So all set on our bid to win the Irish Cup once again. Season tickets are not valid and Admission is £12 & £8 at the turnstiles. Come out and show your support as we look to relive the memories of last May. Get behind the lads and get us into the 6th round. Keep The Faith.
