Colin Coates Moves To Glenavon

 With a heavy heart Crusaders FC confirm that Club Captain Colin Coates has been released to join Glenavon FC.

Colin made his first team debut for Crusaders on 29th October 2002 v Chimney Corner (Co Antrim Shield) and scored on his league debut v Glentoran on 9th November 2002. Colin had been instrumental over his 18 years at Crusaders making 577 appearances scoring 73 goals leading the club to many honours to include 3 league titles, 2 Irish Cup’s, 1 league Cup , 3 Co Antrim Shield’s and of course captaining the team to Setanta Cup glory back in 2012.

Everyone wishes Colin all the very best in his move and as a club we are forever thankful for his sterling service to the football club.

Manager Stephen Baxter paid tribute to Colin saying " Colin Coates will always be a Crusaders legend in my eyes. His charismatic swoshbuckling style caught my attention as soon as I arrived 15 years ago and I immediately saw the potential to harness Colin into the Club Captain and leader that he became. He has been an unbelieveable servant to the club the likes of which we will never see again. I would like to wish Colin every success for the remainder of his career and thank him for his undivided loyalty over 18 great years"
