It was a night to forget as Crusaders where beaten 4-0 by Linfield in a game that will not want to remembered by any Crusaders player or supporter for very long.
It got off to the worst possible start when Linfield took the lead through Jimmy Callagher after two minutes of the game when he headed home. It put Crusaders on the back foot and they never really got going and apart from a decent effort by McGonigle that went wide, atame shot from Paul Heatley and a header from Rodney Brown that was tipped over the bar Crusaders where not at the races in the first half and went in the goal down.
The second half was only five minutes old when Linfield went two up. Crusaders failed to deal with a Linfield attack and could not clear letting Andy Waterworth nip in and scor high into the net. Again Crusaders did not get going and they where 3-0 down when Callagher popped up and scored his second of the night with another header on 64 minutes. The night finished even worse when Howard Beverland was sent off for a second bookable offence on 88 minutes and Stephen Fallon scored Linfields fourth in the last second of the game to really hammer the nail in.
